History

It all started with core drill bits in 1937

The company has operated since 1937 – Levanto is an established operator in the field of diamond tools in the Nordic countries and is well known for its expertise.

Diamond tools have been Levanto’s core business since it was founded in 1937. It all started with core drill bits. Levanto manufactured diamond core drill bits and other tools used by the stone industry; mainly for mining exploration and geotechnical research. From the 1950’s onward, the company’s activities have been expanding. Levanto has acquired foreign representations and has started producing tools for the construction and stone industries.


History

1937
Foundation of Levanto Oy by Lauri Levanto. Commence production of diamond core drills and equipment for the mining industry.

1950’s
Foreign representations start selling Levanto diamond tools.

1970’s
Commence manufacturing of tools for the construction and stone industries.

1978
Levanto Oy is sold to Gustav Rosenlew.

1980’s
Product range is expanded to consist of diamond core drill bits, diamond drill bits, diamond saw blades and diamond grinding wheels; foreign machines also included in product range.

1989
Levanto becomes a subsidiary company to Oy Ekström Ab.

1997
Management buy out – the current organization is formed.

2006
Levanto has a subsidiary Levanto Diamond Tools AB in Sweden and partial ownership of Scan-Diamant AS in Norway. The sales network also consists of distributors in Denmark and Russia.

2014
Levanto is strengthening its position in the Scandinavian countries by two acquisitions: Scan-Diamant AS 100 % and Constec AS (60 %). In May 2015 Constec AS and Scan-Diamant AS merge and go under the name Constec Scan-Diamant AS.

2016
In September Levanto expands its business by opening a subsidiary, Levanto Canada Inc, in Canada, in the province of Quebec. Levanto Canada Inc. will serve the evolving and growing markets in Canada and South America.

In December Levanto acquires 100% shareholding in the Norwegian Constec Scan-Diamant A/S company. The purchase is part of a strategy to further strengthen Levanto’s position in the stone and construction markets in the Nordics.

2017
September 1. 2017 our subsidiary Constec Scan-Diamant AS changes name to Levanto Norge AS. The name change is part of Levanto Groups strategy to unify its brand.
